Summary
Sodex Mobile is the field app for capturing measurements and 3D scans, reviewing capture jobs, and synchronizing work with SDX-Cloud. The app is organized around four swipe-based pages so you can move quickly between setup, capture, review, and settings.
Introduction
Use Sodex Mobile when you want to collect field data and move it into SDX-Cloud from one mobile workflow. The app combines layer-based SDX-Pole measurements, 3D scan capture, job review, and app settings in a single interface.
- SDX-Pole is used for layer-based measurements such as points, lines, and areas.
- 3D Scan is used for 3D scan capture.
- Jobs is used to review saved captures and their upload status.
- Settings is used to manage language, units, and general app settings.
Scan-related actions can depend on the connected SDX-PocketScan device, the active device license, and overall device readiness. The active device license is shown in GNSS receiver status when a device is connected.
Prerequisites
- You have an SDX-Cloud account and access to the correct project.
- You use a supported iPhone. Scan capture is supported starting with iPhone 12.
- You have a stable internet connection for sign-in, synchronization, and uploads.
- If you want to use scan-related workflows, your SDX-PocketScan device is registered in SDX-Cloud and has an active device license.
- If you want to use correction services, your NTRIP setup is ready.
- If you want to capture measurements in SDX-Pole, tilt compensation can be initialized successfully.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Prepare and mount the SDX-PocketScan
- Take the SDX-PocketScan out of the box and assemble it for first use.
- Attach the device securely to your phone.
- Check that the device is mounted correctly before you continue with connection and capture setup.
Use this Storylane demo to see the setup flow:
Expected result: The SDX-PocketScan is assembled and mounted on your phone, ready for connection and setup.
2. Sign in and open the correct project
- Open Sodex Mobile and sign in with your SDX-Cloud credentials.
- Open the project where you want to work.
- Confirm that the project is the correct destination for your measurements or scans.
Expected result: You are signed in and ready to work in the correct project.
3. Get familiar with the main app pages
- Swipe through the app to move between SDX-Pole, 3D Scan, Jobs, and Settings.
- Use SDX-Pole when you want to capture layer-based field measurements.
- Use 3D Scan when you want to create a scan.
- Use Jobs when you want to review saved captures and upload progress.
- Use Settings when you need to adjust language, units, or other app preferences.
Expected result: You know where each main workflow starts.
4. Check readiness before capture
- Open SDX-Pole or 3D Scan.
- Review the three status tiles in the status bar: RTK Receiver, GNSS, and NTRIP.
- Wait until all three tiles are green before you capture measurements or start a scan.
- Open the GNSS receiver status if you need to verify the connected device and the active device license.
- If the app indicates that firmware is outdated, complete the firmware update before you try to start a scan again.
If you need help preparing the pole hardware, see Article: Sodex Mobile - How to connect to the SDX-Pole Antenna.
To verify license, positioning quality, tilt compensation, and device information before you capture, see Article: Sodex Mobile: GNSS Receiver Management.
Expected result: Your device, positioning setup, and license state are ready for capture.
5. Capture measurements in SDX-Pole
- Open SDX-Pole.
- Select an existing layer or create a new layer for your work.
- Initialize tilt compensation.
- Once tilt compensation is complete, capture points, lines, or areas as needed.
- Review or rename the captured measurement if needed.
If you want the detailed layer-based measurement workflow, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Capturing measurements with the SDX-Pole Antenna.
Expected result: Your measurements are saved in the selected layer and ready for synchronization.
6. Capture scans in 3D Scan
- Open 3D Scan.
- Make sure the connected device is ready and the status bar confirms capture readiness.
- Wait until ARKit is ready.
- Tap Start.
- Let the 3-second countdown finish and continue the capture flow.
- Save the scan when the capture is complete.
For scan guidance and capture recommendations, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Best Practices for scanning with SDX-PocketScan.
Expected result: The scan is saved in the app and is ready for review or upload.
7. Review jobs and upload data
- Open Jobs to review saved scans and their upload state.
- Start the upload when the capture is complete and all required follow-up steps are finished.
- If your workflow includes Ground Control Points, complete that workflow before upload when required.
- Confirm after processing that the result appears in the correct SDX-Cloud project.
If you want to capture Ground Control Points immediately after a scan, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Capture GCPs directly after a scan.
If you want to upload a layer as project Ground Control Points, see Article: Sodex Mobile - Upload Project GCPs.
For broader Ground Control Point guidance, see Article: Sodex Mobile - How to work with and measure up GCPs.
Expected result: Your capture leaves the pending state and becomes available in SDX-Cloud.
8. Adjust settings when needed
- Open Settings when you need to change language, measurement units, or other app preferences.
- Review your connection-related settings before you start field work.
- Update NTRIP profiles when your correction-service setup changes.
For a full overview of app configuration, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Settings.
For more detail about correction-service setup, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Manage NTRIP profiles.
Expected result: The app matches your preferred setup before you continue working.
Limits and notes
- Layers are the main structure for SDX-Pole measurements.
- Scan-related actions can depend on the connected SDX-PocketScan device, the active device license, and overall device readiness.
- If the connected device firmware is outdated, scan start can be blocked until the firmware is updated.
- Some scan-related uploads stay blocked until required follow-up workflows are complete.
- Some scan visualization behavior can differ on non-Pro devices.
- Online synchronization is important for sign-in, uploads, and SDX-Pole measurement workflows.
