Summary
Sodex Mobile Settings lets you configure language, units, upload behavior, scan display preferences, and account or support options in one place. The page also includes field-critical settings such as pole height and license-dependent processing options for 3D scans.
Important: Review Pole height, upload preferences, and any available processing options before you start field work. Upload settings on this page apply to 3D scans only. Measurements created in SDX-Pole always require an active internet connection and are not controlled by these upload options.
Introduction
Use the Settings page to adjust how Sodex Mobile behaves before, during, and after capture. Some settings only change how information is displayed, while others affect scan readiness, automatic connections, upload behavior, or how 3D scans are prepared for processing in SDX-Cloud.
The page is especially important when you work with the SDX-Pole Antenna, rely on automatic uploads, or use a license that supports more than one processing option for 3D scans. For upload-related settings, pay close attention to whether scans should upload immediately, only over WiFi, or be retried after a failure.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to Sodex Mobile.
- If you use SDX-Pole workflows, you know the actual height of your pole before you start measuring.
- If you plan to upload 3D scans automatically or open the Help Center from the app, your device has an internet connection.
- If you enable Allow uploads only via WiFi, a WiFi connection must already be available when the app tries to upload the scan.
- Processing options depend on the active SDX-PocketScan license on the connected device. For license details, see Article: Sodex Mobile: SDX-PocketScan Licenses.
- Support-only settings should be changed only when guided by Sodex Support.
Step-by-step instructions
Open the Settings page
- Open Sodex Mobile.
- Swipe to the Settings page. This page is one of the four main app pages and contains your general app, scan, upload, and account preferences.
Review general app preferences
- Check Language to control the app language. The default is System, and available app options are English and German.
- Check Measurement Unit to control how values are displayed. The default is meters, and available options are meters, feet, and survey feet.
Review capture and connection settings
- Check Ignore GNSS Quality only if you intentionally want to allow scanning without RTK fix or without minimum 5 cm accuracy.
- Check Automatically connect to RTK-Receiver if you want Sodex Mobile to reconnect to the most recently used GNSS device when the app starts.
- Check Pole height before SDX-Pole work. The default is 1.8 m, which matches the extendable rover pole issued by Sodex. Use the real pole height that matches your field setup.
Warning: If you enable Ignore GNSS Quality, capture may continue with insufficient positioning quality. This can reduce scan quality and can prevent upload to SDX-Cloud.
Review upload behavior
- Check Automatic Uploads to control whether 3D scans are uploaded automatically after capture. This setting is enabled by default.
- Check Allow uploads only via WiFi if 3D scans should upload only when a WiFi connection exists. This setting is disabled by default.
- Check Automatically retry failed uploads if the app should retry a failed 3D scan upload. Sodex Mobile retries the upload up to 3 times and starts those retries immediately after the failure.
- If Automatic Uploads and Allow uploads only via WiFi are both enabled, automatic upload starts only when WiFi is already active at the time the app tries to upload the scan.
- If a scan is waiting for WiFi, the upload starts on the next app launch when WiFi is available. Connecting to WiFi while the app remains open does not trigger the automatic upload by itself.
Important: These upload settings affect 3D scans only. Measurements created in the SDX-Pole page always require an active internet connection to create and upload data.
Review 3D scan display and processing options
- Check Scan visualizations to choose how capture progress is shown in the 3D Scan page:
- Mesh is the default and shows the scanned area with a blue overlay during capture.
- Pointcloud builds a live point cloud of the scanned area during capture.
- Check Processing Mode if your license exposes more than one processing option. Use this setting to control how 3D scans are prepared for processing after upload, rather than to change the capture workflow itself.
- If you need help choosing between available processing options, see Article: Sodex Mobile: Lidar vs Photogrammetry processing.
Review support and account options
- Open Help Center to access Sodex help content from within the app.
- Use Show upload debug information only when you need additional upload details for a support case.
- Open Developer settings only when Sodex Support has asked you to do so.
- Review User Information to confirm the signed-in user's first name, last name, email address, and organization.
- Use Sign Out when you need to end the current session on the device.
Important: Developer settings are intended for guided support cases. Do not share passwords, credentials, or other sensitive information in tickets.
Limits and notes
- Some settings are workflow-specific and only matter when the related hardware, license, or upload flow is in use.
- Pole height is especially important for tilt-compensated SDX-Pole workflows.
- Automatic Uploads, Allow uploads only via WiFi, and Automatically retry failed uploads affect 3D scans only.
- If Allow uploads only via WiFi is enabled and no WiFi connection is available, the queued upload waits until the next app launch with WiFi available.
- Processing Mode availability depends on the active SDX-PocketScan license on the connected device.
- Show upload debug information and Developer settings are primarily relevant for support-guided troubleshooting.
