Summary
You can combine multiple files and existing data models into one data model in SDX-Cloud. This is useful when one site was captured in separate sections or on different days and you want to work with one combined result for measurements and documentation.
Introduction
In SDX-Cloud, the combine workflow is part of the data model import flow inside a project. It lets you create one new data model from supported files, existing project data models, or a mix of both, so you can review the full area in one place instead of switching between separate models.
Prerequisites
- You have access to the relevant project in SDX-Cloud.
- The project already contains the finished data models you want to combine, if you plan to use existing project data models as input.
- Any files you want to upload are in a supported format such as .las, .laz, .xml, or .dxf.
- All selected files use the same file unit, such as meters, feet, or survey feet.
- The source data you want to combine is data model data. Snapshot data from continuous scanning cannot be selected in this workflow.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Open the data model import flow
- Open the relevant project in SDX-Cloud.
- Open the Data section.
- Open Data models.
- In the data models table, click the + button in the top-right area.
- Keep Multiple files selected in the File type field.
Expected result: The import dialog opens and is ready for multiple-input selection.
2. Select the data you want to combine
- Choose whether you want to add Files, Data models, or a mix of both.
- If you select Files, choose one or more supported files from your device.
- If you select Data models, choose from the finished data models that are already available in the same project.
- Continue only after you have selected all inputs that should be part of the combined model.
Expected result: Your selected source files and data models are listed as inputs for the new combined data model.
3. Review import settings
- Select the correct File unit for the files you added.
- Make sure every selected file uses the same unit before you continue.
- Leave Additional files for processing empty unless you have a specific reason to use it for a single-file import workflow.
- Click Next.
Expected result: SDX-Cloud accepts the selected inputs and moves you to the final import details.
4. Complete the import
- Enter a name for the new combined data model.
- Add a description if needed.
- Review or adjust the capture date.
- Click Import.
Expected result: The new data model starts processing.
5. Wait for processing and review the result
- Wait until the new data model finishes processing.
- If you want an email when processing finishes, enable Project Notifications for data model events in the same project.
- After processing is complete, open the combined data model in the Infomap and SDX-CAD to review it like any other data model.
Expected result: The combined data model is available for visualization, measurements, and documentation in the project.
Limits and notes
- You can only select existing data models that are already in finished status.
- You cannot select a manipulated version of an existing data model when you combine existing data models.
- Snapshot data from continuous scanning cannot be selected in this workflow.
- You can combine inputs from different sources, including drone captures, SDX-PocketScan, and high-resolution captures, as long as they are available as data model inputs.
- Use the correct file unit for uploaded files to avoid scaling or import errors.
