Summary
You can import 2D plans in DXF format into an SDX-Cloud project and display them in Infomap's top-down view. 2D plans help you compare captured data with an existing plan and use that plan as visual support for measurements, geofences, and storages.
Introduction
2D plans add a plan overlay to Infomap so you can work against an existing drawing while reviewing project data. After the file is processed, you can turn individual plans on or off and adjust how they appear directly in the view.
Prerequisites
- You can open the relevant project in SDX-Cloud.
- You have a DXF file that you want to use as a 2D plan.
- You know the correct file unit for the plan so it is displayed at the expected scale.
- You can access the Data area of the project.
Step-by-step instructions
You can watch this demo before you start.
1. Open the 2D Plans area
- Open the project in SDX-Cloud.
- In the project overview, open Data.
- Open the 2D plans section.
Expected result: You can see the 2D Plans table for the project.
2. Import a 2D plan
- Select the + icon on the right side of the table.
- Enter a name for the 2D plan.
- Select the correct file unit for the plan.
- Upload the DXF file from the file explorer or from the upload dialog that opens.
- Select Apply.
Expected result: The new 2D plan is added and starts processing.
3. Wait until the plan is ready
- Allow SDX-Cloud a short time to process the uploaded file.
- Stay in the project until the new 2D plan is available for use.
Expected result: The 2D plan is ready to display in Infomap.
4. Visualize the plan in Infomap
- Open Infomap in the project's top-down view.
- In the left sidebar, open View.
- Find the 2D plans controls and enable the plan you want to display.
- Adjust the plan color if needed. The color setting is applied per 2D plan.
- Adjust the line thickness if needed. The thickness setting is applied to all 2D plans in the view.
Expected result: The selected 2D plan is visible in Infomap with the display settings you selected.
5. Manage existing 2D plans
- Return to Data 2D plans when you want to manage imported files.
- Use the table actions to download the original source file.
- Edit the plan name if you need a clearer label in the project.
Expected result: You can keep imported plans organized and reuse the original source file when needed.
Limits and notes
- 2D plan display settings are stored locally for each user on each device.
- These settings are not synchronized between users or devices.
- On the same device, the selected visibility, color, and thickness settings remain available when you return to the project or switch between views.
- Color is configured per 2D plan, while thickness applies to all visible 2D plans.
- 2D plans are useful as a visual reference layer for captured data and for workflows such as measurements, geofences, and storages.
