SDX-CAD Fields add structured information, such as text, numbers, choices, or images, to the measurements in your project. You create them in the project settings, or import them from your organization or from a JSON file.
Before you start
- You can open Settings in the project in SDX-Cloud.
- You know which field types you need. Choose from Text, Number, Dropdown, and Image.
Open SDX-CAD Fields
Expected result: You see a table with the columns Name, Type, Mandatory, Created at, Last updated at, and Actions. A new project shows No data available.
- Open the project in SDX-Cloud.
- Select Settings.
- Select SDX-CAD Fields in the list on the left.
Create a field
Expected result: The new field appears in the table with its type and mandatory setting. A Dropdown field is listed as Select.
- Select Add field.
- Enter the Name. It is required.
- Choose the Type.
- Fill in the settings for that type. See the table below.
- Turn on Mandatory if every measurement needs a value.
- Select Create.
| Type | Settings |
|---|---|
| Text | Max length, Default value |
| Number | Min value, Max value, Default value |
| Dropdown | Default value, Dropdown options (add each option with the add button and choose a colour for it, up to 100) |
| Image | No further settings |
Reuse fields from your organization
Expected result: The fields you picked are added to the project.
Organization admins create shared fields in Settings > SDX-CAD Fields of the organization. It works like the project screen, with Add field, Import fields from JSON, and Export fields as JSON.
- In SDX-CAD Fields, select Import fields from organization.
- Select the fields you want in the Import SDX-CAD fields window. It lists Name, Type, and Mandatory.
- Select Confirm Import.
Move fields with JSON
- Select Export fields as JSON, tick the fields, and select Export to save them as a file.
- Select Import fields from JSON and choose a JSON file from the project files to add fields from it.
The file is a JSON array with one object per field. Export your own fields first and use that file as your template.
JSON structure
Each field object has these keys:
-
name: the field name. -
type:stringfor Text,numberfor Number,selectfor Dropdown,imagefor Image. -
mandatory:trueorfalse.
These keys depend on the type:
-
Text:
max_lengthanddefault_value. -
Number:
min,max, anddefault_value. -
Dropdown:
options, a list of objects withlabelandcolor(a hex value). The export adds anidto each option.
An export also contains _id, project_id, organization_id, created_at, and updated_at. SDX-Cloud sets these itself.

Fill in fields on site
Expected result: The measurement stores the field values together with its position.
When you record a measurement in Sodex Mobile, such as a point, and a field exists, the app offers to fill it in.
Edit values in SDX-Cloud
You can change every field value in SDX-Cloud after the measurement was recorded. In the measurement, the SDX-CAD fields section lists the fields. Use Add field to choose which ones to show, then select Apply.
Exports
Exports include the SDX-CAD fields.
Search fields in Infomap
Expected result: The search in the SDX-CAD panel also looks in your fields.
- Open the project and select Infomap.
- Select SDX-CAD in the toolbar.
- Select Settings in the SDX-CAD panel.
- Turn on Include CAD fields in search.
- Use Search in the panel to find a measurement by its field values.
