The camera shows not synced when its synchronization signal is absent for at least one second. If points are also offset against a rover or control points, and the offset depends on how fast you scan, a time-sync problem can add to a calibration error.
What the message means
The synchronization signal between the system and the camera was interrupted for one second or more. Scans taken during that time are not reliable.
Scan slowly while the cause is open
In one resolved case the calibration was corrected but a time-sync problem remained, and the error grew with scan speed. Scanning slowly (below 5 degrees per second, slower is better) and reviewing the reprocessed data limited the error. Use this only as a temporary measure and report the case.
Tell the problems apart
A constant offset on the whole site points to the coordinate system or to the correction service, not to sync. See SDX-Cloud: Scans are shifted by a constant offset. An offset that depends on speed points to sync. An offset after a change to the machine or mounting points to calibration.
Do not guess a fix
Do not move cables or the camera while the system scans. Contact Sodex Support with the evidence below.
What to send to Sodex Support
- System serial number and project
- The time of the not synced message
- Comparison data against a rover or ground control points, and the dataset links
- Scan conditions and how fast the boom moved
