Summary
SDX-PocketScan licenses determine which workflows are available in Sodex Mobile. If a workflow is unavailable, first check which license is active for the connected device.
Introduction
This article gives a high-level overview of what each SDX-PocketScan license supports in Sodex Mobile. Use it to understand whether the connected device supports SDX-Pole measurements, 3D scans, and automatic photogrammetry processing in SDX-Cloud.
For a comparison of LiDAR and photogrammetry processing for 3D scans in Sodex Mobile, see Sodex Mobile: Lidar vs Photogrammetry processing.
Prerequisites
- You are using Sodex Mobile with a connected SDX-PocketScan device.
- The connected device is created with a license in SDX-Cloud. For setup details, see SDX-Cloud: How to add a SDX-PocketScan Device.
- Keep the device connected after startup so the app can retry license retrieval in the background if needed.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Check the active license
- Open Sodex Mobile.
- Open the SDX-Pole or 3D Scan screen.
- Click the GNSS status tile.
- Review the license shown at the very top.
Expected result: You can confirm whether the connected device is using Pole, Mapping, or Mapping Pro.
2. Review what each license supports
Use the following overview to match the active license to the supported workflow.
| License tier | What it supports |
|---|---|
| Pole | SDX-Pole measurement workflows, including measuring points, lines, and areas. This workflow requires an SDX-Pole Antenna and a compatible pole. |
| Mapping | SDX-Pole measurement workflows plus 3D scans with LiDAR-based processing. |
| Mapping Pro | Everything in Mapping, plus automatic photogrammetry processing in SDX-Cloud after upload. Scan-related Ground Control Point capture is also available with this license. |
Expected result: You can match the active license to the supported workflow before you start work.
Limits and notes
- License lookup depends on the connected device and its serial number.
- Sodex Mobile attempts to retrieve the license on startup and retries in the background if the first attempt fails.
- If there are issues retrieving the license, verify that an SDX-PocketScan device with the same serial number exists in SDX-Cloud and that a license is assigned to it.
- If the active license does not match the workflow you need, switch to a device with the required license before you start.
