Introduction
The latest SDX-Cloud release delivers several impactful upgrades to enhance geospatial data workflows and user experience. This release focuses on three main areas:
- Reference terrains are now supported in Data Projects, enabling direct terrain-to-snapshot comparisons.
- Multi-file snapshot uploads are now supported, allowing the creation of a single snapshot from multiple LAS/LAZ files in a Data Project.
- The Infomap view received a comprehensive visual update to improve clarity and make functionality more accessible.
Reference Terrains in Data Projects (Data-Projects)
Reference terrains are now available to be imported into Data Projects as well. They can be used inside a Data Project the same way they are currently usable in System Projects.
Once added, reference terrains enable several core workflows:
- Volume Analysis: Use the volume tool to calculate the volume difference between the reference terrain and the current snapshot.
- Point Comparisons: Perform quick elevation checks at specific coordinates to determine the difference between the snapshot and reference terrain.
- Storage Validation: Reference terrains can be used as a baseline for storage tracking and verification.
- Gradient Overlays: In the View section, select a reference terrain to generate a gradient overlay showing elevation differences across the entire scanned area—making terrain validation more visual and immediate.
Multi-file Snapshots (Data-Projects)
Multi-file snapshots are designed to give users the ability to work with multiple point clouds as part of a single snapshot. This is especially useful when:
- Creating drawings that span across multiple point clouds
- Managing large or segmented scan areas
Creation
- Create a multi-file snapshot from the Data Import screen like any other snapshot.
- Select multiple LAS/LAZ files during creation via the filetype selector.
- All other steps are the same as importing a single LAS/LAZ file.
- After creation, users can:
- Add new LAS/LAZ files to the snapshot
- Remove existing LAS/LAZ files from the snapshot
⚠️ Note: It is not possible to attach orthophotos, meshes, or reports as additional files when importing a multi-file snapshot.
Usage
- Multi-file snapshots behave like any other snapshot inside the Infomap.
- In SDX-CAD, the 3D view allows users to:
- Toggle individual point clouds on or off through the View section
- Selectively inspect and compare files within the snapshot
Infomap View Rework
The Infomap view has undergone a full visual rework. While the core functionality remains unchanged, the interface has been streamlined to:
- Align with the latest SDX-Cloud design standards
- Improve clarity and accessibility of key tools
We’d love to hear your feedback on the new design—your input helps us continue refining the SDX-Cloud experience!
Free Tier Release Update
Although we originally planned to release the Free Tier this weekend, the rollout has been postponed by one week. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
