Introduction
Version 1.56.x delivers several highly anticipated improvements across key areas:
- Unified coordinate system setup for all project types
- Geofencing support for manipulations, storages, and comparisons
- DXF file import support in SDX-CAD
Unified Coordinate System Handling
- System Projects and Data Projects now use the same configuration options for coordinate systems
- You can now import Trimble DC-Files as coordinate systems
- Supported across both System and Data Projects for seamless configuration
There are now four types of coordinate systems you can create:
1. Preset
- Select from a curated library of predefined coordinate systems
- Mirrors previous Data Project workflows
2. LOK
- Import Leica LOK files to define the coordinate system
- Also supports GRD, GCG, and LCG files if needed
3. DC
- Import Trimble DC-Files as coordinate systems
- Fully supported across all project types
4. Custom
- Define coordinate system by separating horizontal and vertical components:
- Horizontal: Choose from a list of EPSG codes
- Vertical: Choose a height offset or select a grid file from a predefined list
- Ideal when exact geodetic accuracy is not required but a coordinate system is needed
Disclaimer about new Coordinate Systems
- Old projects will of course continue to work and there will not be any problems.
- New projects can only be used by Systems with a System version higher than 2.8.0
- 1.6.x | 2.8.x - Sep 22nd, 2025.
- This new version is released in parallel.
- Please update your system by restarting them after they have been powered on for 20 minutes to get the latest version.
Disclaimer on LOK and DC File Support
- Both file types are reverse-engineered — no official documentation was used
- Extensive testing was done, but not all variations may be supported yet
- If a file fails to import:
- You’ll receive a notification
- Contact your Sodex support representative
- Submit the file along with a support case
- Sodex aims to integrate new variations within 24 hours, barring complications
- Once supported, the file format remains supported permanently
- With each integration, compatibility improves
We appreciate your patience and your help in expanding support.
Geofence-Based Processing
- Users can now apply geofences for manipulations, storages, and comparisons
- Geofences can be imported from DXF files
- Use geofences to:
- Limit cut/fill volume calculations to specific areas
- Isolate storage regions
- Enables precise alignment with CAD-defined zones and plans
SDX-CAD: DXF Import
This new feature enables full DXF integration into SDX-CAD:
- Supports lines, points, and polygons
- Import into an existing layer or create a new one
How it works:
- In layer view, a new Import DXF button is available
- If no layer is selected, a new global layer is created at the root level
- During import:
- DXF layers are preserved
- Original structure and colors are retained
After import:
- Measurements are tagged as DXF imports
- Marked with a lock symbol to indicate they are read-only
Editing DXF content:
- To edit a locked element:
- Duplicate the measurement
- The duplicated version becomes editable
⚠️ Tip: Avoid duplicating very large lines (100+ points) unless necessary — this can impact InfoMap performance.
