If your scans, your design surface, and a GPS pickup differ by a constant shift of metres in X and Y while an independent RTK check is accurate to centimetres, check the correction service of the project first. A project can use a different correction service than the default one.
Symptom
The shift is the same across the site. It does not grow with distance or change between passes. An independent RTK check on a known point agrees within a few centimetres.
Likely cause
Only the default correction service was changed, or the change to the project setting was not saved. The project then still uses its old service, for example a network service, while the design and localization file refer to a base station. The system, the localization file, and the correction service no longer describe one reference.
What to check
- Open Project Settings > Systems and read the correction service of each system in this project, not only the default.
- Confirm that the change was saved and that it is the service you expect.
- Confirm that the localization file (for example a .lok file) and the correction service refer to the same reference.
- Check a known point with an independent RTK rover before you change any data.
If the project cannot be corrected in place
If the coordinate reference of the project cannot be fixed, create a new project with the correct localization file and correction service. Data that was already scanned is not moved into the new project, so use this route when old data does not need to be repaired. If an old project covers the same area, check that its Autostart does not conflict with the new project.
What to send to Sodex Support
- Project name and the system serial number
- The correction service shown for the project and for the default
- The localization file in use
- A screenshot of the offset and the result of your independent RTK check
