Overview
Managing user roles and permissions is essential to control who can view, edit, and manage content in SDX-Cloud. This article explains the available licenses and roles, how they interact, and what each role can and cannot do.
Members can create and modify content.
Guests can only view content.
Additional admin roles extend permissions on top of a Member license.
Licenses in SDX-Cloud
Member
- Full feature access inside projects
- Can create, edit, delete, import, and export data
- Can upload files and manage project content
- Can be assigned administrative roles
Guest
- Read-only access across the platform
- Can view projects, dashboards, visualizations, layers, and measurements
- Cannot create, edit, delete, import, or export
- Cannot be assigned any administrative role
Guests cannot be assigned Organization Admin, Processing Admin, System Admin, or Project Admin roles.
Administrative Roles (Additive)
Administrative roles are additional permissions that can be assigned to a Member. A user can hold multiple administrative roles at the same time.
- Organization Admin – Manages organization-level settings and users.
- Processing Admin – Can access the Shop to purchase processing credits.
- System Admin – Can access systems and system-level settings.
- Project Admin – Manages configuration of a specific project (assigned per project).
Organization-level roles (for example, Organization Admin) do not automatically grant Project Admin rights inside projects.
Project Roles
Project roles are assigned per project in Project Settings → Access Management.
- Project Member – Can work with project data but cannot modify project settings or manage access.
- Project Admin – Can manage project settings, access management, tags, and linked systems.
Organization-Level Pages
Organization Settings
- All users can view Organization Settings.
- Guests see the page in read-only mode.
- Only Organization Admins can edit organization information.
User Management
- Accessible only to Organization Admins.
- Admins can invite users, assign licenses, change roles, and remove users.
- Users cannot change their own role or admin status.
Subscriptions
- Accessible only to Organization Admins.
- The Subscriptions tab is only visible if your organization purchased SDX products directly through Sodex. If your organization purchased through a Sodex authorized dealer, this tab is not shown.
- Displays subscription details (read-only).
Shop
- Accessible to Organization Admins and Processing Admins.
- The Shop tab is only visible if your organization purchased SDX products directly through Sodex. If your organization purchased through a Sodex authorized dealer, this tab is not shown.
- Processing Admins can purchase photogrammetry processing credits.
- Organization Admins can access all available Shop sections for their subscription.
Some Shop sections (such as data volume, licenses, or flatrates) are only shown if your organization has an active paid subscription.
Systems & Device Management
- All users can see the systems list.
- System Admins can access system logs and system settings.
- Only Organization Admins can fully manage devices at organization level.
- Project Admins can link and unlink devices within their projects.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can an Organization Admin manage project settings automatically?
No. Project configuration requires Project Admin rights within that specific project.
Can a Processing Admin change organization settings?
No. Processing Admins can access the Shop for processing credit purchases, but cannot change organization settings or manage users.
If a user can open a project but cannot change settings, check their Project role in Project Settings → Access Management.
