Summary
If your SDX-PocketScan does not turn on, does not turn off, does not get an RTK fix, or tilt compensation does not work, a hardware reset can help after a normal restart has failed. Perform the reset only while the receiver is connected to a charger.
Introduction
Use this procedure when the receiver continues to show unexpected behavior after you restart it. The reset is triggered with the recessed reset button on the back of the receiver by using a standard SIM card tray opener or a similar thin pin tool.
During the reset, the LEDs on the receiver turn off while you press the button. A rapid blinking pattern indicates that the reset was triggered successfully.
Prerequisites
- You have the SDX-PocketScan receiver with you.
- The receiver is connected to a charger, even if the battery already shows 100%.
- You have already tried restarting the receiver.
- You have a standard SIM card tray opener or another thin pin tool.
- You can access the small reset hole on the back of the receiver.
Step-by-step instructions
Symptom
Use this reset workflow if the receiver shows one or more of these problems after a normal restart:
- The receiver does not turn on.
- The receiver does not turn off.
- The receiver does not get an RTK fix.
- Tilt compensation does not work.
- The receiver shows other unexpected behavior that prevents normal use.
Likely causes
- The receiver is stuck in an unexpected hardware state.
- A normal restart did not clear the issue.
- The receiver needs a hardware reset before you continue troubleshooting.
Fix
- Connect the SDX-PocketScan receiver to a charger.
- Keep the receiver connected to power for the entire reset process, even if it is already fully charged.
- Locate the small reset hole on the back of the receiver.
- Insert a standard SIM card tray opener or a similar thin pin tool into the hole.
- Press the recessed reset button.
- Watch the LEDs on the receiver. While you press the button, the LEDs turn off.
- Confirm that the LEDs start blinking rapidly. This indicates that the reset was triggered.
- Remove the tool and allow the receiver to finish the reset.
- Turn the receiver on again or reconnect it to your normal workflow.
- Test the original action again.
Verification
- Start the receiver again.
- Confirm that the original issue no longer occurs.
- If relevant, verify that the receiver now powers on and off normally, gets an RTK fix, or completes tilt compensation.
- Continue the intended workflow only after the receiver behaves as expected.
Lost scan data: manual re-upload
If a scan fails to upload with the error "Upload not possible: During the scan there was no GNSS device connected," the scan data is not lost. You can recover it manually:
- Open Sodex Mobile on the device that captured the scan.
- Go to the scan list.
- Press and hold on the affected scan.
- Select Upload.
- Select Upload now.
- Watch the upload progress until it completes.
Escalation
If the issue remains after the reset, collect the following details before contacting support:
- A short description of the issue.
- Which steps you already tried, including restart and reset.
- Confirmation that the receiver was charging during the reset.
- The LED behavior you observed during the reset.
- The approximate time when the issue occurred.
Then contact Sodex Support by opening a Zendesk ticket or by emailing support@sodex-innovations.com.
