Use Device Management in SDX-Cloud to add supported devices, control automatic processing and pin creation, and assign licenses or flatrates. Open Organization > Settings > Devices before a device starts uploading production data.
Summary
Device Management is the central area for managing supported hardware in SDX-Cloud. You can add devices, edit device details, decide whether uploaded data is processed automatically, decide whether pins are created in the Infomap, and assign licenses or flatrates.
Prerequisites
- You can access Organization settings in SDX-Cloud.
- You know which device category you want to manage.
- You have the correct serial number before assigning a license or flatrate.
Where to find Device Management
- Open SDX-Cloud and sign in.
- Select Organization in the left sidebar.
- Select the Settings tile.
- Select Devices in the left menu.
You see tabs for supported device categories. Each tab contains a table with one row per device.
Supported devices
- SDX-PocketScan
- DJI drones
- DJI docks
- viDoc devices
Key concepts
Active
The Active switch controls whether SDX-Cloud automatically processes data from that device.
- Active = On: Data from the device is processed automatically.
- Active = Off: The device can still upload data, but SDX-Cloud does not auto-process new data.
Turn Active off when you want to pause processing without deleting the device.
Create pins
The Create pins option is available for SDX-PocketScan, viDoc, and DJI docks.
- When Create pins is enabled, SDX-Cloud creates map pins in the Infomap automatically from the device's images and positions.
- When Create pins is disabled, the device still uploads normally, but no pins are created automatically.
Licenses, flatrates, and credit-based processing
Device Management supports two coverage models for device-based processing.
Sodex Mobile mapping license
- A Sodex Mobile mapping license gives unlimited captures and uploads for a single SDX-PocketScan device.
- The license is billed annually and tied to that device's serial number.
Photogrammetry flatrates
- A flatrate gives unlimited photogrammetry processing for a specific device up to the included Gigapixel volume.
- Flatrates are available for SDX-PocketScan, Drones, DJI docks, and viDoc.
- Flatrates are tied to the device serial number and cover the configured processing volume for that hardware.
Photogrammetry credits
If a device does not have a flatrate, it can still process data with photogrammetry credits as long as your organization has credits available.
Licenses and flatrates affect processing eligibility. Verify the correct device before you assign coverage.
Assignments
Licenses and flatrates are hardware-bound. Once you assign them, they cannot be removed or transferred.
After you save a device with Has license or Has flatrate enabled:
- The assignment cannot be removed or transferred.
- The device can no longer be deleted.
- Only Name, Description, Active, and Create pins remain editable.
If hardware needs to be replaced, treat it as a support case handled by Sodex.
Deleting devices
You can delete a device only when no license and no flatrate are assigned.
- If neither is assigned, deleting the device removes it from the list and it can no longer upload or process data.
- If a license or flatrate is assigned, the delete option is disabled.
Use Active = Off when the device should no longer be used but still has assigned coverage.
Typical workflows
- Onboarding new hardware: add the device, enter the serial number, decide whether it should be active, and assign coverage if needed.
- Temporarily pausing processing: edit the device and turn Active off.
- Checking coverage: review the license and flatrate columns to see which devices are already covered.
Best practices
- Verify serial numbers carefully before you assign licenses or flatrates.
- Use clear device names so hardware is easy to identify later.
- Review the DJI Dock & Drone Integration Workflow in SDX-Cloud article when you manage dock-based deployments.
